Role Overview:

2XM Recruit is seeking a Senior Solution Architect for a NSW Government. You will play a crucial role in specifying the future state solution design of the DTRS (Digital Train Radio System), covering aspects such as base stations, radio spectrum, network integration, security, server infrastructure, and core applications. Collaborating with various business divisions, technology units, and key stakeholders, you will develop and review end-to-end solution architectures to ensure alignment with business requirements, functional and non-functional requirements, and cybersecurity strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop the solution architecture for the future state of the DTRS, ensuring alignment with business requirements and cybersecurity strategy.
  • Govern the development of end-to-end program solution architecture and high-level design, feeding into business cases and procurement processes.
  • Coordinate configuration change control for technical architecture designs and implementations.
  • Facilitate peer reviews of solution architecture documents and collaborate with other architects to ensure consistency with overall architecture vision.
  • Evaluate the business impact of proposed solutions and engage in innovation labs to explore new technologies and implementation approaches.
  • Execute safety responsibilities consistent with our clients safety management system requirements.
Key Challenges:
  • Ensure the quality and standards of business process architecture.
  • Engage with numerous stakeholders and subject matter experts to capture requirements and plan transformation to the future state solution.
  • Address compatibility issues with legacy systems during the transition to the new DTRS solution.
  • Develop a new security model to accommodate the increasing number of devices at the edge.
Essential Requirements:
  1. Appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Business and Information Technology or related field.
  2. Experience in developing technology strategy for railway communication, including transitioning to modern 4G LTE/5G capabilities.
  3. Significant experience in telecommunications, including Radio Area Networks, Mobile 4G/5G networks, and Digital Train Radio Systems (DTRS).
  4. Strong understanding of DTRS cores, train applications, and system integration.
  5. Experience in encrypted Public Safety Network, UHF/VHF radio communications, and satellite/microwave data solutions.
  6. Significant experience in the telecommunications industry and understanding of global trends in railway communication solutions.
  7. Strong understanding of legislative environments for telecommunications, critical infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
  8. Familiarity with global standards for railway communication and involvement in the development of future railway communication standards.
