2XM are searching for a Machinist/ Mechanical Fitter to join a global industry leader in the heart of Eagle Farm, Brisbane.

You must be able to operate a manual lathe and milling machine, balance rotors as well as operate various types of welding machines. The right candidate will also be able to dismantle, reassemble, replace parts & assemblies as well as capable of accurately using micrometres and measuring devices.

Duties

• Operate and maintain lathes and milling machines
• Carry out precise detailed mechanical measurements
• Sleeving and re-building bearing housings
• Machining commutators on electric motors 
• Operate balancing machine
• Assisting with the dismantling/reassembling of various types of rotating equipment
• Work in a team with other machinists and electrical worker
• Ability to plan jobs to co-ordinate repair activities and be organized with tools and work methods.
• Recommend changes such as new equipment or modified procedures to improve performance and customer satisfaction.
• Provide recommendations to management to improve operations and customer service
• Conduct detailed inventories and inspections to determine necessary consumables and tool levels to ensure consistent job completion

Knowledge and skills

• Must have a Mechanical Fitter Trade qualification and have a minimum of 3 years trade experience in a machine shop
• Ability to operate a manual lathe, milling machine and balancing machine
• Experience in operating various welding machines
• Able to use measuring equipment accurately.
