Job description

Senior Project Manager
12-18 Month Contract 

We are seeking a Project Manager contractor with a qualified degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10-15 years of experience in the Transmission & Distribution Industry, holding positions such as Senior Project Manager or at Senior Project Execution/Operations levels with direct reports of 5 or more staff.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Lead the project team, establish project execution approach, oversee project handover, and execute planning and monitoring and control activities for both internal and external resources to achieve project goals.
  • Lead project reviews for other large projects and Organizational Project Management (OPM) reviews/assessments.
  • Monitor and control project financials, overseeing invoicing status, costs, expenses, and cash flow as well as Identify, qualify, quantify, and manage project risks, ensuring all opportunities are identified and pursued.
  • Apply earned value method to manage critical path and project float to optimize the schedule whilst driving continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the project consistently applies contract and claims management in accordance with organizational policies and contractual agreements.
  • Ensure required procurement activities for services, materials, and equipment are performed by assigned resources.
  • Ensure the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Create project HSE Plans and ensure common HSE policies and reporting are implemented across the project with all stakeholders.
Experience required:
  • Experience in project cost control and reporting in SAP is preferable.
  • Robust commercial and contract management skills with familiarity in dealing with construction industry customers and vendors.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively manage stakeholder relationships, both internal and external.
  • Knowledge of the Transmission & Distribution market and customers in Australia, including emerging sectors.
  • Sound people management skills and the ability to articulate and collaborate with Project Engineers with a customer-focused approach.
  • Strong knowledge of the Distribution Product portfolio with emphasis on packaging or solutions (MV & LV Switchgear, Switchroom, and Control & Protection systems/products).
  • Leadership experience in project execution, coupled with well-developed communication, influencing, and coaching skills.
