2XM Recruit are seeking a Legal Counsel to provide legal support and advice in the Rail industry. You will work with the Project Team to identify and manage key project (commercial and legal) risks, maximise compliance and enhance the businesses commercial position in relation to key stakeholders.
Role: Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel Location: North Ryde Job type: Permanent Salary: Up to $210,000 plus Super (higher for 15+ years experience)
Duties:
Offer legal counsel for different Rail projects, covering contract interpretation, negotiations, variations, claims, disputes, settlements, and project-related legal activities.
Ensure legal compliance for the business in Australia (and Asia Pacific as applicable), including Modern Slavery Act reporting.
Draft contractual notices, escalations, responses, and claims.
Develop and implement efficient commercial policies and procedures.
Manage contractual claims for ongoing projects.
Provide contract administration advice and training to project teams.
Support new projects and opportunities by reviewing agreements, NDAs, EOIs, RFP/RFT, and related information.
Offer legal support for general project office matters (employment, WHS, property, services, etc.).
Coordinate external legal and claim consultants, including selection and oversight of their activities.
Provide legal guidance for external consultancy engagements.
Prepare relevant project reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
• Educational qualifications in law • Unrestricted Australian Practising Certificate • 5+ years’ experience as a solicitor, either in private practice or in-house • Excellent written and communication skills
