2XM Recruit are a leading National Provider of Recruitment & Labour Hire Services with over 10 years’ experience supplying qualified personnel to the Mining, Engineering, Construction & Rail industries across Australia.


Our Construction division are currently looking for an experienced Estimator/Business Development Manager for a well known Mining Services company.

  • Location: Perth, WA
  • Salary: $110,000 – $130,000 per year
  • Role: Prepare and review estimates, initiate projects across multiple sectors, and collaborate with project teams.


Estimator responsibilties:

  • Project Cost Estimation: The estimator is responsible for analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for projects. This can include labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluating potential risks and uncertainties that could impact the project's budget and timeline, such as market conditions or regulatory changes.
  • Collaboration with Engineers and Architects: Working closely with engineers, architects, and other team members to understand the technical aspects of the project and ensure the estimate reflects the true scope of work.
  • Cost Control: Monitoring costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure the project stays within budget. This may involve identifying cost-saving opportunities or recommending adjustments.
  • Bidding and Tendering: Preparing and submitting bids for projects based on the estimated costs and proposed timelines.
Business Development Manager Responsibilities:
  • Lead Generation: Identifying and nurturing potential clients or customers to expand the business. This may involve market research, networking, and attending industry events.
  • Relationship Building: Developing strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders. This helps the company win repeat business and referrals.
  • Sales Strategy: Creating and executing sales strategies to drive business growth. This could involve pricing strategies, promotional campaigns, and negotiating contracts.
  • Market Analysis: Understanding market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities and business prospects.
  • Proposal and Contract Negotiation: Preparing proposals and negotiating terms of contracts with clients. This requires good communication skills and an understanding of the business’s offerings.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with the sales, marketing, and project management teams to ensure that business development efforts align with company goals.

Skills Needed:


  • Strong Analytical Skills: To accurately estimate costs and identify the best strategies for business growth.
  • Communication Skills: Both roles require clear communication, whether it's for presenting estimates to clients or developing proposals.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding the specifics of the industry you're working in, such as construction, manufacturing, or IT.
  • Project Management: Familiarity with project management tools and techniques is helpful, as both roles require a level of coordination across multiple teams.
  • Negotiation Skills: Particularly important for a business development manager when finalizing contracts with clients or suppliers.
