Competency and Compliance Lead
Location: Can be either Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide
We are in search of an experienced Competency Compliance Lead to orchestrate and oversee competency management processes. The goal is to ensure adherence to legislative requirements under Rail Safety National Law, pertinent industry regulations, standards, registrations, and authorizations. The role involves supporting the technical function in navigating chartership and credentialing requirements while serving as an Approved Assessor for our client.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement competency frameworks.
  • Conduct competency assessments in collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and identify training and development needs, establishing minimum standards.
  • Create and manage processes for the identification, training, and management of approved internal competency assessors.
  • Review, update, and maintain competency assessment processes, guiding documents, and templates on IGMS.
  • Manage the Technical Function training program, leading the engineering registration and chartership processes.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to address them.
  • Prepare for, support, and manage compliance audits against training and competency requirements.
About You:
  • Proven experience in implementing and managing systems related to competency management and compliance, preferably in training and competencies or a related field.
  • Possess a current Cert IV Trainer and Assessor qualification.
  • Technical experience (managing technical engineering competency, engineering technical experience, or similar) is desirable.
  • Familiarity with TAO Authorization is desirable.
  • Must have experience within one of the following industries: Rail, Infrastructure, Marine, Aviation, Transport or Mining.
  • IGMS experience is preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Cert IV Trainer and Assessor.
  • Knowledge of Training and Competency standards and guidelines.
  • Effective communication across all levels, from Directors to operatives.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Motivator, capable of both team collaboration and independent work.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, RIW Program.
  • Ability to collate data, prioritize, and conduct trend analysis.
