Join our Vintage Steam Locomotives client in the heart of Melbourne's scenic countryside, as either a Permanent Mechanical Fitter or if you are wanting to take a step up in to a Leading Hand role.

The workshop is surrounded by lush, green picturesque views, and this role allows you to immerse yourself in the world of genuine vintage trains.

If you're an experienced mechanical fitter who loves tackling challenges the old-fashioned way, this is your chance to make history come to life. Working with vintage locomotives ensures that no two days are alike, so we're seeking a candidate with proven problem-solving abilities and a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry our maintenance tasks on the Locomotives and Rolling Stock 
  • Use of machine and hand tools within heritage workshop 
  • Interpret technical manuals and drawings to perform precise measurements and work to tight tolerances.
  • Utilize your Cert III Mechanical Fitter/Engineering to maintain and enhance the locomotives' structural integrity.
  • Be a vital part of preserving and celebrating Australia's rail heritage.

Required Skills:
  • Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering / Trade Qualified 
  • A genuine interest and passion for steam locomotives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address unique challenges presented by vintage machinery.
  • Ability to accurately interpret technical manuals and drawings.
  • Proficiency in working with precision measurements and tight tolerances.
